Always, ALWAYS Remember:
1)
Practise burn safety around stoves. Don't leave pots boiling and leave
the room. Don't leave pot handles sticking over stove edges where they
can be tipped. Don't wear loose, dangly or baggy clothes around a stove!
2)
Smoke Alarms can save your life. Have a smoke alarm on every floor of
your home. Check the battery often. A chirping battery means Change
Me!
3)
Don't ever play with matches or lighters. If you find matches or a lighter
tell a grown-up right away. Don't try to light any kind of fire without
grown-up supervision.
4)
Be careful around hot water. Don't ever put your whole hand, foot or
body into hot water without testing the temperature first. Get a grown-up
to feel how hot your bath or shower water is before hopping in.
5)
Be careful around open fires of any kind. If your clothes catch on fire
Don't Run! Stop, Drop to the ground, Cover your face, and Roll until
the fire is out.
6)
Always have a Family Fire Safety Plan. If you smell smoke, drop to the
floor and crawl to the door. If the door is hot crawl to another exit
like a window. If the door is cool, open it carefully and crawl to the
nearest exit to the outside. Once out of the building rush to your family's
chosen meeting spot. Then phone 911 from a neighbour's house. Wait for
the firefighters to come. Don't go back into a fire under any circumstances.
